Gears

Not much is still known by the race about there origins. Known now for centuries simply as 'Gears' many have pointed ears some don't but they all share three things in common. All are born with gemstones embedded in there skin, all regardless of eye color have glowing Irises and all live for creating a blend of gears cogs and magic. Wither it be for medical travel or just daily things.

Gears are an eccentric race keeping mostly to themselves in there hidden kingdom. Most never leave, the idea of stepping foot out of there hidden mountain kingdom as ludicrous. And that any Gears who does wish to leave must be missing a few 'cogs and gears' in there Brian so they don't function properly.

Gera Tekra, the Magius Steampunk Kingdom is a perfect blend of plant life magic and tech that is powered solely by magic. Looking like the Ancients built it and plopped it there.

There natural magics have to do with self enhancement and controlling anything made of metal gears and crystal. There style of clothing is Steampunk leather and cogs and gears for accents.

Rare as it is for a gear to leave there hidden 'Shang ra la' there from time to time has been one who needed more. Needed to explore and travel to inspire others outside of Gera Tekra and be in turn inspired by them. To Glean ideas from curiosity and wonder of those who see where magichines can go.

Specific Racial Quirks or Differences.

Other then there eyes, and some being born with pointed ears. And the 'gemstones'.

Crystal nervous system, there nervous systems a line lines of living crystal cells. As well as producing naturally tiny scattering if bead like crystals on there arms and legs as well as more...intimate places. The crystals are produced naturally by there bodies either in place of where hair could grow like the backs of there arms. Or at sensetive places like the insides of there wrists and backs of there hands.

Intimacy and Childern.

For Female Gears there reproductive systems function the same as every other race. They have heat cycles but only four times a year. Once during each season. They also carry far longer a total of 16mnths. Bit don't start showing a baby bump until nearing the end of the sixth month. They carry longer but the fetus development is also much slower.

For Male Gears it's a bit more complicated. They always 'Lock' with there mate. A version of tying unique to there race. Once joined they are Locked with there mate until pregnancy occurs. The Lock happens everytime. If there partner is with child the lock releases, but they don't dare be intimate with there mate unless it's the right time to conceive or there spouse is already pregnant. For this reason they often fail to grasp the concept of violating or raping another. For them the act if Intimacy carries far more weight.

Views on Childern...

When it comes to the races views as a whole. Taking care of there own children is a given. However no one will care for another's children or the others 'bagage' as they refer to them. Another families children come with the 'problems' of that other family. And is an additional cost they did not want.

The government oft asks its citizens to be mindful of there experimental builds. If it might go wrong and could kill you please make sure your baggage is inside and all is handled appropriately.

However if the parents death occurs when there child is thirteen..they are no longer considered 'baggage' as they can work, bath and care for themselves. Before the age of 13, the government will if the child does not die with its parents...put it down as it's not capable of caring for itself. There are exceptions often an much elder sibling intervenes and takes in there orphaned younger brother or sister preventing the government from killing off many orphaned children.
